Post subject: Is there a stylebook entry for "go-go dancer"?
PostPosted: Mon Jan 06, 2003 6:41 pm
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Police hunted for a go-go dancer Monday after a 7-year-old boy in her care was found dead in a plastic storage bin and his two brothers were discovered, beaten and starving, in a locked basement room.
*** Shouldn't a well-written lead for this story try to draw at least some kind of causal link between the "go-go dancer" and the children? This reads -- and reeks -- with a bit of an Onion-y odor ....
By the way, Webster's Encyclopedic Unabridged Dictionary defines "go-go dancer" as: "An entertainer who performs popular dances on a stage or platform for the patrons of a discotheque or nightclub {1960-1965}."
Wanna bet the writer of this story is at least 50 years old, and probably older than 60?
