Like A.N. Murrell, I hate most of those Internet abbreviations, especially the ones I don't know. But I rather like some Internet slang. "Googled" seems a useful word, for instance. In the early days of the Net, before the Web was invented, people used to "finger" each other. Not sure if I like that one.<p>BTW, that reminds me of a headline that got into the newspaper over my objections years ago:<p>"Suspect fingers himself in murder"

The news editor was a good guy who had a lapse in judgment. The rim editor was notorious for trying to slip double-entendres past the slot.

Back to the origin of the thread, do you really want to type "Rolling on the floor laughing my ass off" instead of ROTFLMAO every time you want to sound cliche and foolish? IMHO, WTF does it matter if people want to get sloppy in their play time. Besides, it isn't that far a stretch for most people to write poorly on the Internet. Just think of how many mistakes we as copy editors correct every night. And those are "professional" writers. (Which just goes to show, even a rudimentary knowledge of proper grammar doesn't pay.)
