You all might get a kick out of WordSpy, a Web site that tracks new and often strange uses of words.

That is a cool site. Thanks.
How 'bout this for a stumbling word in a NY TImes lede:
[W] ASHINGTON, Dec. 12 ? President Bush's repudiation of Senator Trent Lott today, as an apostate to the "founding ideals" of the Republican Party, underlined the juggling act the party has maintained on race for nearly four decades.
apostate? I get the gist of course but "opposite" seems to work better(removing "an" as well).

"Juggling" is another cliched news-speak word, along with "held," "tossed," "weighed," etc.

I work at a small newspaper and come into direct contact with the reporters - who would not admit to their cliches. One woman who was lauded for her writing speed made the most mistakes and wrote in the least appealing style - but she got noticed for her SPEED. How sad. She also didn't win many writing awards.
She also quite the biz after two years.
