The mind reels at the likely string of Machiavellian-machination-motivated threatening phone calls and/or e-mails that led to AP moving the following on today's Nation wire ....
NEW YORK (AP) — In a Nov. 7 story about the election of Sandra Mims Rowe, editor of The Oregonian, as chairwoman of the Pulitzer Prize Board, The Associated Press reported Rowe was a graduate of Harvard Business School. The story did not describe the specific program she completed. She completed the school's 12-week Program for Management Development, which is part of the school's executive education program.<

That's getting to a be a common obfuscation...passing off these bogus "executive seminars" as a full-degree program. They must be a gold mine for the schools 'cause they probably charge 10 grand a pop!
On a related topic, the discrepancies between master's degree programs in general are interesting. I have a friend who's getting a MBA at the University of London. It's a one-year program at a well regarded school, but it's not the same as a two-year MBA at Wharton or Harvard.
And for us, Columbia's one-year journalism master's isn't the same as the two-year program offered at Berkeley, UNC, Northwestern etc. (We can argue about the overall worth of a journalism MA another time!)

I "completed" a few months of college. Judging by the resume standard above, perhaps I should revisit mine.
I'm planning on driving past Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute this afternoon. Surely that qualifies as something.

Actually, Northwestern doesn't have a two-year MSJ degree, unless it's started doing something in conjunction with the Management grad school or something. (I'm an alumna.) The program is 9 months for those with J-degrees (usually Northwestern) or 12 months (three months of "boot camp") for those without it. No thesis.
